Into the Abyss We Go

Written by race on October 26th, 2008

The Washington Husky Football Program is plumbing for new depths of hell as they subject their fast dwindling fan base to humiliation after humiliation with no end in sight other than rumors and speculation to distract us from a reality as ugly as we have seen here in 40 years.

I was 13 years old when the 1969 Huskies set the standard for futility that is being threatened by the 2008 version of our Purple Warriors. The 69 team had the excuse of being torn apart by the racial upheaval of the day as Jim Owens was dragged kicking and screaming into the modern era of the Black Athlete and two platoon football.

The 2008 version is a case of self inflicted death by Presidential Neglect. Mark Fucking Emmert and his grain of sand sized balls required Ty to completely destroy the program before our naked emperor will deign to rebuild it.

Enough already. Ty has fired himself 40 times over. You can get rid of him now, Captain Coward. Right now. We’ve suffered enough, the players have suffered enough and the program has been thoroughly humiliated time and again on national television.

Meanwhile, in Real Football land:

The Arizona Wildcats did a good impersonation of a team willing to go toe to toe with the highly paid Trojan squad. It was an entertaining nightcap as both squads featured hard hitting defenses and good play. If Wrong Stoops can close out the year with a bowl he may get that new contract. Cal ran all over the Bruins to keep their hopes of a first Rose Bowl in 50 years alive. The ASU Devils got run by some mid major spread team.

The Alabama Crimson Tide continues to roll over the opposition as they smoked Tennessee in front of a fast emptying Volunteer home crowd. Phil Fullmer may be the best just fired coach for us to choose from if form holds at Montlake. Georgia crushed LSU eliminating the defending champs from the title picture. Next up is some cocktails and tennis with the hungry Gators of Florida. Rich Brooks is who he has always been – a bad coach who gets killed playing good teams. 63-5 over Todd Turner’s vision for Husky Football.

Missouri is the Oregon of the Big 12. Back against inferior opposition, the Spread ran it up again, 58-0 over Dan Hawkins and Colorado. I  blame Neuheisel. Texas held off a very good Oklahoma State team. Lost in the classic rant from Mike Gundy is the fact that he’s built a damn fine team in Stillwater. Next up for the Horns are the gimmicky Texas Tech Raiders, who look like they may be more than that this year. We’ll find out in prime time this week.

Penn State beat Ohio State to give an anxious nation the specter of yet another Big 10 team in the national championship game. Haven’t we suffered enough? Let’s hope the SEC and the Big XII can each get an unbeaten through. Alabama v. Texas sound any good?

All accross this land full stadiums were rocking to man’s greatest sport. We got DeathWatch08 at it’s nadir of despair and destruction. Is there any other answer than to fire Ty today and sign up Mora tomorrow?

It’s STILL your fucking move, Mr. Football President.
